Today we have spent some time with our CEO and founder Abel Mustieles who has ridden the new X3 20" to test it and share with all of us his feelings.
Besides having a lot of fun seeing him again on the trial bike we got some details that might interest you.
Here is the mini interview with his review of the new CleanTrials X3 20" trial bike.
We hope you enjoy it!
Abel, what improvements does the new X3 feature compared to the X2 version?
Hi! In general, all the forged parts have been re-designed; steering tube, crankset, top-yoke and toe-guards: Mainly optimising their durability. The frame is rigid and suffers a lot of stress so we´ve had to improve this aspect. Naturally, we´ve also gone for a better look, and I think we´ve achieved it.
Tell us, what is the most important innovation in the X3 series?
I honestly think that the innovation came with the X2, and now we´ve just kept perfecting the product with all the upgrades we´ve added to the brand over the years. I´d say that the most innovative feature is the one-piece crankset in both the 20” and 26” models.

How was the design and construction process of the X3?
We literally started off with the K1 to put this bike together. With our software, we overlapped one with the other until we got the result we wanted. Obviously, some things can´t go from carbón to aluminium, but we wanted that evolution from the X2 to somehow approach the K1. Then came all the manufacturing process, blueprints and changes that are standard on site. In spite of the pandemic setting us back 2 years, here we are.

Who would you recommend buy this bike?
Well, it´s actually a professional bike for someone who want to take their Trial to the next level and for whatever reason prefers to stick with aluminium without going to carbón. Despite being the main promoters of carbón in Trial, it´s logical that a lot of people prefer staying with aluminium. We offer this option doing the best of what we do in this material.
What does this bike offer compared to lower model ranges?
Mainly Rigidness. The X3 compared to the X1, we could say, is that it´s a competition machine. It is true that it´s not for the general public like the X1. It is in some respects an ¨uncomfortable¨ bike, which is why you have to be at a really good level to squeeze everything it offers out of it. Being more comfortable, the X1 adapts itself better to lower level riding.

Which do you prefer now, the 20¨ or 26¨?
The 20¨, my 26¨years were simply a way to be able to phase in my retirement from riding. I´ve never been a big fan of the 26¨. The switch to the 26¨ was something to keep me connected to competing without the need to ¨kill¨ myself training.
What differences are there among the Standard, Pro and the World Class models?
The Pro offers big changes compared to the Standard. It´s got the carbon Pro rims, fork and handlebar. On the Standard, they are aluminium. The WC Edition is the same as the Pro, but adding the popular Combo, of which a new versión is already on the way.

Thank you very much for your time, Abel!
